A BIT ABOUT ME . . .
I am a self taught practicing artist based at Madhyamgram, a town near Kolkata. I like to portray emotions, rhythm, motion through my artworks and that is why portraiture and figurative compositions of human & wildlife stays at the top of my subject list. Expressionism is the form of my works. Charcoal is my go to medium and beside that Oil is a medium that helps me express the best.
I work where silence meets texture.
Strokes & Shapes was born from a deep fascination with form, shadow, and the quiet power of monochrome. Using charcoal and pencil as my primary language, I explore how a single stroke can suggest emotion, and how simple shapes can hold complex stories.
My art is not about color — it’s about contrast, depth, and feeling. Every sketch begins raw and imperfect, allowing smudges, pressure, and pauses to guide the final form. I believe charcoal has a memory of touch, and pencil lines carry intention — together, they create honesty on paper.
At Strokes & Shapes, you’ll find portraits, figures, and abstract compositions that balance realism with interpretation. Some works are detailed and intense, others minimal and quiet — but all are rooted in observation and patience.
This space is a reflection of my process:
slow, thoughtful, and deeply personal.
Whether you’re here to explore, collect, or collaborate, I invite you to look closely — because in shades of grey, every detail matters.
